ProeSuppliers.com

by Rick Snider

It was November 1989. George H.W. Bush was President. Joyous Berliners were demolishing the hated Wall. Restaurant meals went blissfully uninterrupted by cell phone jabber. Spam® was a meat product packed in tin cans, not your inbox. And an intrepid band of engineers formed an independent organization to serve users of a revolutionary new software called Pro/ENGINEER®. This organization would become PTC/USER.

Filling an unmet need, the new group grew quickly. 1990 saw the first user conference in Dedham, Massachusetts with about 100 folks meeting there. A newsletter, an e-mail discussion list (the "exploder") and a web site were established over the next few years.

Today, with over 20,000 members around the world, PTC/USER continues on its mission serving designers, engineers and everyone else who uses PTC software. There are now PTC/USER World Events held in the United States and throughout Europe and Asia each year. Many members participate in our regional user groups and technical committees. We publish Profiles Magazine and operate the web sites and e-mail exploders promoting a constant flow of ideas and information sharing.

Things in the world of design have changed greatly in the last fifteen years, but you can still count on PTC/USER to deliver the news, information and training that you need.

ProeSuppliers.com
Do you wish you could find an easy way to identify suppliers that can utilize your native Pro/E data without translation? There now is a place on the Internet where you can get this business-critical information. ProeSuppliers.com is a unique solution that allows users to identify service providers based upon service description, industry expertise, product experience, core competencies, version of Pro/ENGINEER, applications, location, business profile, and more. The powerful search tools give you unbiased results based upon the criteria you provide, rather than the biggest spenders on advertising.

European World Events Get Bigger
Last week, Friedrichshafen, Germany and Geneva, Switzerland played host to two PTC/USER World Events. Attendance continues to grow, with over 375 at the German event alone. The World Event concludes its tour of Europe this week with a conference in the Netherlands, and then shifts to Asia with events scheduled for mid-November in Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul and Taipei.

We're already planning for the big 2005 World Event to be held June 5-8 in Orlando, Florida. Exhibitor information will be released shortly at our web site, or you may contact Kevin Johnson to get an Exhibitor Packet sent to you.
