Open Objects by Drag & Drop in Pro/ENGINEER

In Pro/ENGINEER® 2000i and 2000i2, you can open objects into session by dragging them from a file browser in Windows or Windows NT and dropping them into the current graphics window.

Active Assembly Window

When you drop a part or an assembly file into an active assembly window, the system displays the Confirm Retrieval dialog box.

• Choose Assemble to assemble the model into the assembly.

• Choose Retrieve to open the model in a separate window.

A part or assembly model can also be dropped into an active interchange assembly.

Active Drawing Window

When you drop a part or assembly model into an into an active drawing window, the system displays the Confirm Retrieval dialog box.

• Choose Add View to add the model to the drawing and enter the VIEWS menu.

• Choose Retrieve to open the model into a separate window.

Active Window for Importing Models

You can also drop an IGES or neutral format file into an active model. The system will display the Confirm Retrieval dialog box.

• Choose Append to add the geometry to the active model.

• Choose Create to add the geometry to a new model.

When you drop an IGES or neutral format file into an empty window, the system displays the Import New Model dialog box.

• Choose the desired new model type and then select OK.

This technique should not be used with Pro/INTRALINK®. You can, however, use it to bring parts/assemblies into session, validate the models, and then save into a Pro/INTRALINK workspace prior to check-in to Commonspace.
